AngloGold Ashanti, one of South Africa and the world’s largest gold mining companies, has been threatened with the loss of its local mining rights by the department of mineral resources.Only President Cyril Ramaphosa can save the South African publishing industry from the disaster that the Copyright Amendment Bill could cause.The general manager of the Public Servants Associations Ivan Fredericks writes for us.

He says the government’s approach to public servants and their vested interests is creating the perfect storm for expanding poverty and causing a situation in which, in years to come, public servants will also be standing in SA Social Security Agency queues.An insurance group destroyed by its exposure to VBS Mutual Bank is going into liquidation – potentially destroying any hope of recovering R86 million in policies belonging to more than 63 000 truck drivers.
