Scott Pape, also known as the Barefoot Investor, has told readers he will be “breaking with tradition” by skipping the budget lockup in Canberra for the first time in 20 years.

Finance guru Scott Pape, also known as the Barefoot Investor, has ditched his budget tradition to deliver cost-cutting advice, urging Aussies not to rely on tax cuts from Canberra.

Treasurer Jim Chalmers will hand down the 2024-2025 Federal Budget at approximately 7:30pm on Tuesday, which he has touted as a substantial cost-of-living relief package Labor will provide for Aussies “doing it tough”.Pape, however, wrote dubiously of the government’s “spin doctors” who spend months in focus groups conjuring up a “catchy name” for their economic policy in the hope to get them re-elected.

Pape’s message to Aussies was: “Don’t look to Canberra for help – they’ve got enough problems of their own”.Pape left readers to reflect on ways they can make meaningful changes in their finances to keep money in their back pocket. Picture: Sezeryadigar/iStock
