The Federal Executive Council has approved the request to obtain a loan of $150m from the African Development Bank to finance the Nigerian Electrification Project.

The Minister of Finance, Zainab Ahmed, disclosed this at the end of the meeting of the Council which was presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari at the State House, Abuja, on Wednesday.

“The project is a nationwide initiative to be implemented by the rural electrification agency. The project aligns with the strategy of Federal Government on electrifying rural communities. “The maximum power that will be generated will be 76.5 megawatts installed generating capacity, part of which is 68,000 megawatts of solar.

“The project is in the total sum of $640m out of which each of the four countries involved has a component.“It is a concessionary loan. This is a loan that the four countries are taking together; the other three countries have concluded theirs, so this is one of the final stages for Nigeria to conclude its process,’’ she said.

This government should know that people voted for them and for sustainable economic growth and development any privatised company that failed to deliver should be sanctioned.

Government should stop deceiving us especially on this NEPA issue, if the current investors are not capable to deliver, then government should revoke their licence.

Waste of resources. Privatised companies should finance electricity infrastructure or loose their licenses

Good luck💕
