Kaiser Aluminum and Intrepid U.S.A. Inc are each closing a North Texas facility and laying off a total of 177 workers.
The job cuts come from Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification notices filed with the TWC. Whenever a company has more than 100 full-time employees, it must provide at least 60 days notice when laying off more than 50 people, according toFranklin, Tenn.-based Kaiser Aluminum is closing its 194,000 square-foot Sherman facility at 4300 Highway 75 South by June 30 and eliminating 75 employees.
“Any impacted customers have been or are in the process of being relocated to other Kaiser facilities to continue serving them in line with Kaiser’s corporate value to be a preferred supplier,” the company representative said.Unlike other layoffs, some of Kaiser’s employees are represented by a union.
