The Weather Service says the southern and western high ground will experience disruptive snowfall, damaging winds over the interior and coastline, high seas along the coastal areas and very cold conditions over a significant part of the country.
Spokesperson Charlotte Powell says residents, especially those living adjacent to mountains, should install barriers or sandbags to protect their properties from potential mudslides. City authorities say three people have been injured following strong winds that resulted in damage to roofs in a number of areas.
