The Independent Electoral Commission says it does not expect any disruptions during voting in the Umzinyathi district, in northern KwaZulu-Natal, on Wednesday.
Ndlovu says the IEC is ready to open all voting stations and to conduct home visits to the 6,800 registered special voters. “Yes, in fact, it’s the figure that we will be dealing with starting tomorrow[Monday]. We will see how far can we go but we are ready. We are ready to visit all of them and we are ready to welcome those who will be visiting our voting stations,” says Ndlovu.
Yeni says the IEC will make alternative plans for voters who might not be able to reach voting stations due to roads that were damaged by the heavy rains that lashed the province during the Easter period. It is alleged that more than 200 residents have been forcefully evicted from their homes due to unpaid levies.
