IEC's chief electoral officer, Sy Mamabolo, says they are currently liaising with unions to forge a way forward.Workers have threatened to strike on Election Day if the IEC fails to respond to wage negotiations., says they are currently liaising with unions to forge a way forward.

“We received communication from the labour unions on Friday and we engaged yesterday and we’ve been consulting with the commission overnight. There is a proposal on the table. We should be able to find one another before the end of the day today and we believe there will be reasonable accommodation on both sides.”
