Cattle breeders across the Northern Territory fear the live export industry could be at risk if a minority government is formed at Saturday's election.

Cattle breeders across the Northern Territory fear the live export industry could be at risk if a minority government is formed at Saturday's election.

Both major parties say they will support the live export industry but cattlemen fear it could crumble if Labor or the Coalition need to rely on the support of Independents, particularly those from inner-city areas including Julia Banks, Zali Steggall and Kerryn Phelps. Candidate for Kooyong Oliver Yates has told Sky News ‘the majority of the people I speak to want live animal exports banned’ and he will ‘support this position and upgrade animal welfare standards as a matter of priority’.

Fluffycat61 You know I would NEVER give Labor a point, but I have to say, A LOT MUST BE DONE TO IMPROVE LIVE EXPORT CONDITIONS

Good

This happened under the Gillard government. What about the ships that carry sheep and cattle? Only cattle? The cattle export industry is gone under Labor!

The industry needs to move on! One day we’re are going to look back at the way we treated these animals the same way we look back at slavery.

Be afraid! There is solid evidence based on past experience!
