Basic Education Minister Siviwe Gwarube says while she is appalled by some of the incidents that have affected the start of theThe Minister was briefing the media in Cape Town in terms of the National Senior Certificate examinations, among other issues.

“In KwaZulu-Natal, Eastern Cape, Limpopo and Mpumalanga, we face disruptions that were caused by inclement weather. The Department had activated contingency plans and learners were able to write and complete their papers. We also experienced some power outages in some areas and backup generators were relied on for learners to complete their papers.”“It is with an extremely heavy heart that I want to address the deeply distressing incidents that occurred in Mqhekezweni.
