Alphabet Inc.'s GOOGL, -0.56% GOOG, -0.54% announced Thursday that it plans to acquire acquiring Looker, a business-intelligence and data-analytics company, for $2.6 billion in cash. The deal is Alphabet's first big acquisition since Google Cloud's chief executive Thomas Kurian joined the company from Oracle Corp. ORCL, +0.29% at the start of the year.
