Gates along the West Kirby sea wall have been closed and a youth market has been cancelled as Wirral ’s coastline is set to take a battering from Storm Darragh. An amber wind warning has been issued for the borough on Saturday December 7. Wirral Council on December 6 said Merseyside and especially the Wirral were expected to be the most exposed parts of the region for disruptive gusts of wind on Saturday.
It added: “Unfortunately, due to the expected storm and safety concerns, Birkenhead Youth Market will no longer be going ahead on Saturday 7 December at Birkenhead Market. “Postponing the event follows advice from the Met Office specifically over Christmas Markets and safety precautions for traders, residents and visitors.
