Frustrated with the combination of what its founder terms inefficiencies of AC-power systems and red tape from municipalities and utilities to build an infrastructure to power electric vehicle charging stations and artificial intelligence data centers, a new company providing off-grid power is stepping in to fill the gap.Founder Vic Shao cites his experiences running other energy companies such as Amply Power and Green Charge network as the basis for creating DC Grid.
dual hose unit powered by direct current that can accommodate both Tesla’s North American Charging Standard and Combined Charging Standard plugs. “The power is more efficient because you're eliminating that loss from DC to AC. Secondly, less land is required for that solar system because, again, it's more efficient. There's less space required for inverters and whatnot, so the solar farm becomes a little bit smaller,” explained Shao. “Secondly, the loads these days for the high growth areas, whether it's EV charging, fast chargers, data centers, they're also direct current based.
“It's just on-site assembly of all this gear, and we can set it up in days. You can tear it down again in days. So that allows us to sign a one-year term contract with the end customer by the usage and when they're done, then we take it and we go off to the next customer,” Shao explained.
