John Barilaro says community benefits far outweighed NSW treasury analysis that found a grants to an education provider was unlikely to provide value to the taxpayer.

Her previous attempt at university was not a success as she found external study too hard and, due to a lack of support, dropped out after just one semester.

Ms Rendoth said the opportunities CUC provided were already transforming the make-up of the town, with more young people staying in the area. "Just the fact that people are going to stay in their towns is huge. How can you put a price on that?" she said.Initial research by the University of Queensland — CUC's education course provider — found its Cooma students were achieving similar or better grades than those onsite.

Country Universities Centre's CEO Duncan Taylor said the early research demonstrated completion rates at the Cooma campus were also on par with onsite delivery.
