STOCKHOLM - Swedish Finance Minister Magdalena Andersson said on Saturday the center-left coalition government would introduce a bank tax to fund greater defense spending from 2022. “The extra for 2022 will be financed by an increase in taxes on the financial sector from 2022,” Andersson told reporters. She said the levy would bring in an extra 5 billion Swedish crowns per year. Andersson gave no details on how the tax would be levied.
Pure rhetoric. They have 'free year' & 'family week' that they will do as well, which cost just as much. They just want to peg defence spending on taxes since they don't like it and want the people to think the tax raises are because of that and not the leftie 'luxury reforms'.

Perhaps its time for Sweden to join forces with NATO as a full member - they may have to change their long-cherished neutral status as the circumstances on the ground change rapidly. There IS strength in numbers and a determination to face off aggression when presented with it.
