BUSA applies for interdict against strike in banking sector via SABCNewsOnline

Around 40 000 members are expected to take part in the strike – which is against the retrenchment of workers and digitalisation of banking systems. In Gauteng, it will start at Congress of South African Trade Unions House down to the bank city where the memorandum will be handed over. The acting head of Business Unity South Africa, Cas Coovadia says a ruling on the interdict will be handed down on Wednesday.

“We have applied for an interdict and we are expecting a ruling tomorrow. We applied for the interdict because the strike has been planned on the basis of a section 77 notice. That was actually done in August 2017 and our legal people are of the view that the notice is out dated. So, we have applied for an interdict and we are awaiting the ruling tomorrow,” explains Coovadia.

South African banks prepared for biggest strike in 99 years | IOL Business ReportSouth African banks are urging clients to use digital channels as the industry prepares for what could be its biggest strike since 1920. A ploy by the ANC to distract while they push something else through that the dont want the South Africans to see. Really getting tired of these protests, considering that they never see the 'bigger' picture that has a ripple effect on the economy and eventually the loss of jobs. cryptocurrency Time to finally make this the global financial standard.. They can strike but in the near future the whole banking system going to be electronic and paper money will be in museum of history.
