perfume was launched, customers can experience the full CDG collection, and also ink themselves with a CDG tattoo kit which has been created in collaboration with MAC. Progressive beauty brands in the mix include Stryx, a make-up range for men, luxury lipstick line La Bouche Rouge and Japanese eyeline specialists, UZU by Flowfushi.
Sustainably and organically produced ranges are top of the agenda for Kawakubo and Joffe with selections from formerdesigner Francisco Costa’s vegan and cruelty-free skincare line, Costa Brazil, bamboo toothbrushes from Sweden’s Humble Brush, and a boutique offering of white charcoal shampoos, masks and oils from Danish brand, Sort of Coal.
In its design, the store aligns with DSM’s minimalist aesthetic, with bare walls and floors, no logos, and not a gaudy display in sight. Rei Kawukubo has designed a specially installed forest of pillars featuring egg-shaped shelves to display the Market’s many treasures, with subtle pops of colour throughout and a crocheted pillar feature that spans all of the floors.
True to Kawakubo and Joffe’s ethos, there will be no complimentary samples or gifts on offer here, but with bountiful new discoveries from around the world and conceptual fragrant adventures to be had, your beauty appetite will be more than satisfied. §
