Based on the media attention, time spent talking and national polls, Senator Elizabeth Warren was seen as the frontrunner and the center of attention in the Democratic debate. Warren called for a wealth tax, increased taxes on corporations, repayment by taxpayers for student loans and free healthcare for all—supported by taxes on the “rich”—and a radical Green New Deal that will financially hurt a number of industries, such as the energy sector.
Think of all the taxes that are taken out of your own pay—now add an additional 10% to 20%. You will dine out less often, take less vacations and defer major purchases, such as a home or car. Companies will have less money due to higher taxes. With less funds, they’ll hire fewer people, downsize employees to cut costs and raise prices on their products and services to compensate for the higher taxes.
The answer to jobs is through the government, according to some candidates. Instead of relying upon corporations or entrepreneurs, they want the government to hand out jobs.
