Sen. Bernie Sanders ramped up his criticism of his progressive rival Sen. Elizabeth Warren, saying her Medicare for All would be "quite a hit" to average workers and employers.released Thursday
"When you're putting what amounts to a $9,500 'head tax' on a company that is hiring workers for $40,000 or $50,000 dollars, that's quite a hit. Quite a hit," Sanders said, referring to a uniform tax that would charge employers the same amount for each employee to fund Medicare for All. Under her plan, employers would pay a per-employee fee equal to 98% of their health insurance spending and annually increase payments to keep up with the cost of healthcare. Companies with fewer than 50 workers would be exempted if they don't already provide coverage.as "regressive" and effectively a "flat tax on all workers at the same firm.
Bernie's the only one we can trust on healthcare because he's the only one who isn't a Capitalist to the bones. He's the only one who has always put the people first, before profits, political parties or career. He has the record to prove it. She doesn't.
Elizabeth Warren doesn't have a plan for Medicare4All she supports Bernie's plan, but suggests a different funding mechanism. The one she suggests slows down implementation, is easy to game, and is bad for labor and small business.
Of course, he is the original!
Bernie2020 M4A
Warren should cede the issue of healthcare fully to Sanders and focus on w/e signature legislation she tried to run on. Latching on to M4A for political expediency has obviously backfired on her campaign. Sad.
Warren needs to embrace M4A fully as intended via income tax, or step away. She has become a liability for M4A.
Warren’s ‘head tax’ is regressive and unworkable.
