Image: RollingNews.ie FINANCE MINISTER PASCHAL Donohoe has called on Independent TD Noel Grealish to clarify why he singled out Nigeria while raising questions in the Dáil about money being sent out of Ireland.
“Taoiseach transfers to other EU countries I can understand, for example, money being transferred to the United Kingdom, our nearest neighbour, with over 100,000 British people living in Ireland and over 10,000 Irish students in the United Kingdom.” “Well, I’m sure he’ll be bringing forward figures to justify that across today. The figures that are available to me from the central statistics office are some way short of this.
In response to Grealish yesterday, the Taoiseach said that he doesn’t doubt Grealish’s figures but added: “I’m not sure where you’re going with this”.Grealish is a member of the Rural Independent Group, a collection of TDs who decide on a case-by-case basis whether to support the government. He has previously come under fire for remarks he made at a public meeting in September about whether a direct provision centre should be built in Oughterard in Galway.
“I hope Noel Grealish is proud of himself this morning,” she said during an interview on Morning Ireland.
