An Instagrammer tried to make a viral video by joking he might have coronavirus on a plane. Instead he forced an emergency landing and got arrested.

Police in Ontario's Peel Region said in a statement that Potok's announcement "was shared with the flight crew and a decision was made to return the flight to Pearson Airport,"They said Potok was inspected medically, and was found to be free of symptoms. He was arrested and charged by the police.

Potok will appear in court in Brampton on March 9, facing the charges of mischief and breach of recognizance. Here's the route the plane ended up taking: The flight path of Flight WS 2702 from Toronto, which returned to Pearson International Airport after takeoff.Social media footage shared by City News shows passengers criticising Potok as he is brought off the plane, including saying "That was a good one" and "We could have been in the sun."Potok, who goes by the name Potok Philippe, described himself as an artist when describing his desire to go viral to Global News.

"I figured it would invoke some kind of reaction — not on the plane, more people seeing on social media going 'wow, this kid's got some balls' or 'this kid is crazy,' whatever it is."But he said he was apologetic for the effect on other passengers. "It seems to me like this was in poor taste, in retrospect," he told Global News. "What I did was wrong. I ruined the flight for 200 and somewhat people. I ruined their flight." "There's all types of positions: people that are happy, people that are upset. But in the end I ruined people on the plane's trip, so I'm extremely apologetic.""I fly to Jamaica five times a year.

techinsider Ignorant and narcissistic are bad combination 😏

The only good ending to this story is if he was torn to pieces by the other flyers.

Good.

to be fair tho, the plane shouldn't have turned back around

He's getting more clout than he bargained for..

Make him pay for people's airfare and to cover the flight expenses. Maybe that'll teach him a lesson

It means that much to be famous, man the social media platform industry Monopolies should be accountable too for creating and allowing it.

We need to start sending people to jail so they get that their 'pranks' have real world consequences called 'a record'.

He deserves it

It might be pointless since this loser is destined to spend his life in his parent's basement, but he should be sued by the passengers and airline to recover all costs.

All pranks are dumb

Lol when will people learn. You don't play these kinds of jokes aboard aircraft.

😂😂😂😂

thisisinsider Well it’s viral now

techinsider Org kaya gini pas flight lgsg jungkrakno ae di pintu emergency

Naming him only makes him famous which is EXACTLY what he wanted. Why enabled him?

That's Instagrammers for you. Desperately seeking fame and money addictively where it brings out the worst behavior possible chasing their fix.

thisisinsider Since when did being an idiot become an artistic expression?

It's not funny and he deserved it

If there's karma he'll get what he wished for

SAI

techinsider Good luck finding new viral concept in the jail

haha, so funny. NOT. in jail for at least 10 years. let him have it.

Hopefully he has been banned from flying.

All social media accounts inactivated for a period of five years. *bangs gravel* NEXT!!

Keep him locked up. Maybe it'll teach him something. Maybe.

thisisinsider 🙄

Guess he was absent on the day CommonSense was being handed out.

Hope he serves time and is forced to pay for the flights

Expose him to the virus. That's what he wants right.

thisisinsider Mampus
