The department of Agriculture and Rural Development has announced that R1,1 billion will be used for emerging farmers.
De Jager says farmers need to pay for production, salaries for employees and other logistics during the lockdown. MEC for Agriculture, Rural Development, Land and Environmental Affairs in Mpumalanga Vusi Shongwe announced the relief measures during a meeting with farmer’s associations in Ermelo.
Farming is business and a business has to set aside money called 'general reserves' for situations like this Covid19. That De Jager should know better.
