The government should work towards creating a safe and regulated market for vaping in Australia, General Practitioner Dr Joe Kosterich says.

It is currently illegal to sell e-cigarettes which contain nicotine and an attempt by Health Minister Greg Hunt to introduce a ban on imported liquid nicotine for vaping has been delayed for six months after 28 Coalition backbenchers signed a letter condemning the decision.

Mr Kosterich said the original decision would have condemned approximately 300,000 Australians who had quit smoking by vaping, back into smoking”. He said Australia needed to follow New Zealand and a number of European nations in making vaping an accessible alternative to smoking given it does not contain the dangerous carcinogenic substances found in cigarettes. Someone must pumping the cash into marketing the shot out of vaping.. Conservatives are loosing their shit over it?!! transparencyInOurMedia

I’ve got an idea... How about you recommend people give up smoking and vaping altogether. That way they will be healthier and richer!

So can someone explain to me why after 7yrs of vaping my friend was diagnosed with throat cancer? The long term effects of vaping will not be realised as cases such as his are not recorded for analysis.

Too much tax revenue in tobacco sales so vaping won’t get government approval. They like the tax dollars and consider the medical treatment costs of smoking diseases a state problem.

markriseley It would be unthinkable for Australia to regulate local sales of nicotine vapes. Such public health 101 only works in Canada, USA, UK, NZ, EU ..... In OZ moral disapproval helps to highlight that medical science is different here, & harm reduction too hurtful to BigPharma $$s.

I agree. Vaping should be a controlled market in AUS.

Yea like putting foreign things in your most delicate organ of your body that one is good for you, yeah right
