Boeing's 737 Max will make its long-awaited recertification test flights this week, according to a new report

Pilots and test crew members from the US Federal Aviation Administration and Boeing aim to kick off a certification test campaign for the 737 Max on Monday, expected to last at least three days, people familiar with the matter told Reuters.

After a preflight briefing over several hours, the crew will board a 737 Max 7 outfitted with test equipment at Boeing Field near Seattle, one of the people said. The tests are meant to ensure new protections Boeing added to MCAS are robust enough to prevent the scenario pilots encountered before both crashes, when they were unable to counteract MCAS and grappled with "stick shaker" column vibrations and other warnings, one of the people said.

After the flights, FAA officials in Washington and the Seattle-area will analyze reams of digital and paperwork flight test data to assess the jet's airworthiness. That means the jet is on a path to resume US service before year-end, though the process has been plagued by delays for more than a year.

Unfortunately even when these get the green light, they’re gonna have the same issues every other airplane is gonna have now. They don’t like to sit, they need to fly and work. Other parts will fail with them being grounded so long. That goes for every plane, not just max

Flying is the last way I’d travel now; Boeing aircraft would be the last I’d fly on if I had to fly; and I wouldn’t fly on their new 737 under ANY circumstances. There ARE consequences to dangerously callous mismanagement.

I shan't be flying in one.

Excuse me while I pass
