CAMP MARCELO A. ADDURU, Tuguegarao City – A Chinese national and his business were arrested for smuggling cigarettes in their warehouse in Santiago City.

Police Regional Office 2 Director Brig. Gen. Crizaldo Nieves identified suspects as Fubin Huang, 25, and presently residing at Cauayan City; and Tonron Ferrer Quejada, 23, a native Lourdes, Cabanatuan, Nueva Ecija residing in Santiago City.

Police said that, at around 11:30 a.m. last July 16, operatives of Tuguegarao Police Station 1, operatives of the Bureau of Customs , and representatives of Japan Tobacco Inc. conducted the raid by virtue of a letter of authority at the warehouse and store of TOP Warehouse located on Hawkson St. in Purok 5 Mabini, Santiago City.

The raid resulted in the arrest of the suspects, and confiscation of 81 boxes Marvel Filter King and five boxes Migthy Green fake cigarettes amounting to P2.58 million, which were already loaded in a van. PNP Santiago City was still conducting follow up investigation, while suspects and the seized items are now in the custody of the Santiago City Police Office.
