The Morrison government will reveal on Tuesday its JobKeeper and JobSeeker schemes will be extended beyond September at a reduced rate. The prime minister and treasurer are in Canberra to reveal plans for the COVID-19 support measures, which will continue at their current rates until the end of September. From that point, the JobKeeper rate will be reduced and is expected to become a two-tiered payment system.

Treasury has also recommended the government look at setting a new turnover test for businesses. For those left out of work during the pandemic, JobSeeker payments will also be wound back in two months' time, with the exact rate to be revealed later this morning.
