A Brisbane woman was branded “distasteful” after asking brands to send her gifts in exchange for “free of charge” posts on her Instagram.

Scanlan isn’t the only influencer to be called out over a freebie request, with Gold Coast coupleafter their manager sent out a similar request earlier this year.

In a notice posted in Social Diary – a widely circulated email newsletter for events and social media influencer news – Orval and Szep’s manager shared that the couple were “excited to announce they are expecting a baby in August”.Scanlan sent PR agencies a marketing proposal for her birthday. Picture: @miannscanlan/InstagramScanlan also revealed she had discounted her rates.

After being called out over the post, Orval hit back, taking to his Instagram story to call it “online bullying”. “To publicly humiliate someone when your in the industry you are in is a disgrace, it’s online bullying and so unprofessional! I hope you sleep better at night,” he wrote.called out brands who asked her to discount her rates“I’ve collaborated/worked with a few brands over time who as of late have asked me to work for much, much less, or for free due to budget cuts – which I understand,” she wrote on her Instagram story in May.

“However when I’ve said no – which is in my opinion completely warranted – have completely written off the relationship.”“These are brands I’ve travelled with and promoted for years who just throw the relationship away because I’ve refused to work for free,” she wrote.

An ‘influencer’ is only that if she/he influences people. I don’t need people on the internet to influence me to buy or use any product. Wake up people!

This is the sad world we live in. They think they influence people but really these people are just sociopathic narcissists who live in a fantasy land where they hope to be the next Kardashians. Go release a sex tape and you’ll probably get there you losers.

Nothing wrong with it! Big corporate thrives on this business model.

Dumb and ugly. Two things I'd not want associated with my brand.

But. Those eyes.

Hahaha a h a Ha ahahaa g a h a ha So needy

Is ‘influencer’ what they call ‘escorts’ now?

Nothing wrong with it! We all have to find a way to pay the bills! She is hot AF

But thats what they do ?

They make money 💰 yeh but when a pandemic comes who can afford them and it’s a job that’s not stable. You are better off having an income working in a job than being an influencer

This is normal around the world , it is a negotiation between the brands nothing to worry about it

Our business gets many requests of the same variety every day.

some people just don't want to work to buy their own stuff

Where do these vapid people come from?

Here's an idea. Go and earn your money instead of begging.

A new name for a so called “influencer”, is a numpty. Why do we give them so much attention?

So what is she an influencer for? Botox, fish lips and plastic surgery? It is now a case of see one see them all.

so she is a light porn star so what .... got it flaunt it good on her

What would you expect her to do? Redistribute her wealth?

Influencer , what I hope my kids don’t aspire to be. Imagine pushing Hair Gummies and Protein Shakes for a living whilst in a bikini

Stop making stupid people famous
