A new poll shows Germans support Trump's removal of troops and want all US nuclear weapons to leave Germany as well

Germans support the reduction of US troops based in Germany, a new poll says.Trump said he was removing troops because Germany doesn't spend enough money on its defence. However, a YouGov poll found that Germans support a reduction in troops, by 47% to 32%.

"We don't want to be the suckers anymore," Trump. "We're protecting Germany, so we're reducing the force because they're not paying their bills. It's very simple. They're delinquent." with a quarter saying that all US troops should leave. Less than a third support the number of US troops in Germany staying the same or increasing. The US currently stores 20 atomic bombs at the Büchel Air Base in Rhineland-Palatinate, southwest Germany. This is due to the the UN's "nuclear sharing" policy, which prescribes that European countries that don't possess nuclear weapons of their own should host weapons belonging to other countries as a means of deterrent.
