PETALING JAYA: The Finance Minister has clarified that allocation for the Health Ministry under Budget 2021 is at RM31.9bil, higher than RM30.6bil allocated in 2020.

Finance Minister Datuk Seri Tengku Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz said the allocation for medical supplies and consumables amounting to RM4.29bil had been allocated and classified under code 080000 .

"This is why the total allocation under code 020000 shows a ‘reduction’ from RM14.2bil to RM11.3bil . This came following claims by industry groups that there had been significant cuts across the board that reduced funds for the public healthcare workers and medical supplies for lifestyle diseases. He said the government had also set aside an extra RM475mil for the supply of reagents and consumables needed in relation to Covid-19 and RM318mil for the provision of PPE equipment and hand sanitisers for the country's frontline staff.
