PETALING JAYA: Two women were arrested for illegally opening a lottery shop during the movement control order here.

Petaling Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Nik Ezanee Mohd Faisal said the incident occurred around 2.50pm on Wednesday ."They were arrested for operating a business not listed as essential services during the MCO," he said in a statement on Thursday .

He said police seized seven slips of paper with numbers written, two slips of already purchased numbers and RM147 in cash."The two men, aged 29 and 47, were arrested at around 2.10pm in Kelana Jaya.In another unrelated case, three men were arrested for not wearing face masks. "The three, aged between 31 and 40, were arrested at a restaurant in Kelana Jaya around 3.10pm," he said."We do not take pleasure in making these arrests and issuing compounds but it is necessary to help curb the spread of Covid-19," he said.
