PETALING JAYA: In the face of a lockdown from June 1 to 14, several business groups have urged the government to provide them urgent financial assistance.

They said they were ready to bite the bullet for the sake of the nation and the people, but they would be in need of an economic recovery stimulus package.

"At this critical juncture, we ask that the government consider the plight of our SMEs and the millions of Malaysians that we employ and provide urgent financial assistance to our SMEs," he said. This, they said, comprised the self-employed, micro-SMEs and small entrepreneurs who will be the ones most affected by the reduction in income and the uncertainties caused by the pandemic.
