The Pasay City Council passed and approved an ordinance extending the deadline for the payment of business taxes, fees, or charges imposed and collected by the city government until Feb 11 without incurring any interest, surcharge, or any form of penalty

The Pasay City Council passed and approved on Wednesday, Jan. 19, an ordinance extending the deadline for the payment of business taxes, fees, or charges imposed and collected by the city government until Feb. 11 without incurring any interest, surcharge, or any form of penalty.

Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano sent an endorsement letter to the City Council and requested for the enactment of the legislation to extend the deadline for the payment of business taxes until Feb. 11. Rubiano said the extension of payment of business taxes was made like in previous years when thousands of tax payers beat the Jan. 20 deadline for payment but the receipt of payments cannot be immediately issued due to the heavy volume of tax payers coupled with the fact that machines and human resources were insufficient to cope with the situation.

She also said it also added the current situation of the country which is still fighting with the COVID-19 pandemic, its variants Delta and Omicron, and health and safety protocols are observed that may affect the processing time. The mayor also said the city government knows the importance of the business sector especially the micro, small, and medium enterprises as the backbone of the local economy and their need of government support from the impact of COVID-19 pandemic.
