Fruit and vegetable grower Costa Group’s tomato glasshouse facility in New England the sole beneficiary of planned upgrade

The Morrison government has awarded over half a million dollars in funding for the installation of fibre-to-the-premises NBN to a single business in the electorate of the deputy prime minister,, despite the government having previously argued against taxpayer funded fibre upgrades.

This is despite the NBN Co estimating that the average cost per premises for fibre-to-the-premises is $4,395. The company is also spending about $1,500 per premises to upgrade select homes across the country from fibre-to-the-node to fibre-to-the-premises.

Round one of the regional connectivity program funded thousands of premises in regional parts of Australia to convert from connecting to the NBN via satellite to a full fibre connection at a cost of close to $40m for taxpayers, according to calculations made by Guardian Australia. In Joyce’s register of interests, he discloses his partner, Vikki Campion, has shares in Costa Group, although the register does not indicate how many shares she holds.

“The Connecting Costa Group – Growing the Guyra project, jointly funded by the Australian government and NBN Co under Round 1 of the RCP, will upgrade the NBN access technology at the Costa Group hydroponic tomato glasshouse facility from Sky Muster Satellite to fibre to the premises,” the spokesperson said.

OMG! Bribes, rorts, incompetency- do LNP think we won’t notice? It’s OUR 💰 money.

I object to the fact that the coalition is using our money to pay for them to buy votes

Corrupt

Pffft!

Remember to say it, don't be shy: 'Award-Winning Journalist Vikki Campion.'

ljayes, aclennell worth having a look at?

A Coalition corruption scandal is a daily occurrence these days

'“Any suggestion Mr Joyce acted inappropriately is off-base and only serves to perpetuate the anti-regions campaign the Labor party is running.”' Nah, it's an anti-Mates Rates Rorts and Torts campaign which should be run by every media in the country instead of the 'But Labor'

Yeah well, after privatisation pretty sure anybody wanting an upgrade will have to pay for it ... Mates Rates Rule ...

Talk about disgusting patronage. What about every other rural community and farmers? The LNP don't give a rats.

That Vikki Campion part owns!!

Ffs

Barnaby doing a favour for his partner.

No, nah, nope, nothing dodgy about upgrading your girlfriend's business with fiber network that only costs half a mill $ of other people's money. Ffs, if they had to spend their own money, they'd faint,go to the hot dollar shop& buy $500 worth of extension cables going up the hway

From my regional expensive, unreliable internet position.

And you wonder why Campions running interference in the Murdoch tabloids 🤔

It would have paid the wages of a few qualified nurses in an Armidale Aged Care facility but they are the forgotten hidden section of the population in the Coalition Doctrine. Well I suppose a lot of local tomato juice to go in the vodka is more important. Wonderful priorities.

joshgnosis Vicki Campion just happens to hold shares in this company … corrupt? To the core

How will LNP mates ever make money if the LNP are voted out
