Property Council of Australia Chief Executive Ken Morrison says “we welcome the focus on housing affordability”.
It comes after Opposition Leader Anthony Albanese has promised to slash the cost of buying a home for thousands of Australians. The Help to Buy scheme will see up to a 40 per cent reduction in housing costs for 10,000 Australians per year.“We did some polling just before the election campaign and showed that 70 per cent of people think that the great Australian dream of owning your own house is slipping away,” Mr Morrison said.
“So, it’s definitely right that we’re focusing on this and we do welcome the announcements yesterday from Anthony Albanese.”
How about cutting developers profit from a healthy 20% instead of size and quality of dwellings. But I’m sure they’re in bed with developers as well as everyone else who makes the rules.
