Where once his interest in ecology and sustainable farming practices were considered eccentric, today the new king’s strident declarations on climate change look much more mainstream.It’s not even a year since Charles opened the COP26 conference in Scotland by declaring the world “is on the brink”.
Charles the climate advocate had repeatedly called on business to lead what he has described as a “rewiring of the global economy”, praising firms taking climate action and quite pointedly lashing industries that have tried to protect fossil fuel subsidies.
He may state his views in private but will be unable to state them in public now. He has been a huge advocate for environmental issues and was lambasted for being so, yet he has been proved right. I hope he gets to push for his views even with all the restrictions.
