A former Managing Director (MD) of the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) and former employee of the African Development Bank (AfDB), Dr Usman Gur Mohammad has explained why the administrations of Olusegun Obasanjo, Umar Musa Yar’Adua, Goodluck Jonathan, and Muhammadu Buhari could not solve the problems in Nigeria's power sector over the last 23 years.

Obasanjo was Nigeria's president from 1999 to 2007; Yar'Adua took over in 2007 but died in 2010. Jonathan, who was Yar'Adua's Deputy, took over from the late leader and was president till 2015 when he lost to Buhari in the presidential election of that year. Buhari will leave the position on May 29, 2023 after spending two terms in office.
