Ryan Tubridy took a pay cut of €55,000 or 11 per cent between 2019 and 2021, bringing his pay down to €440,000, though The Late Late Show and Radio 1 host remains RTÉ's highest-paid person, new figures published by the public broadcaster show.

Joe Duffy has climbed from third to second spot in the top 10 list, although his earnings have also fallen. In 2019, he was paid €392,494. This dropped to €360,650 in 2020 and then €351,000 in 2021, or a decline of about 10.6 per cent over the two years.

The promised cut formed part of a broader agreement made between RTÉ and the government in late 2019 as the broadcaster sought and received additional public money to fulfil its remit. Brendan O’Connor, eighth in 2019, is now seventh. His pay of €220,000 in 2019 rose to €238,753 in 2020 and then €245,004 in 2021. In March 2020, O’Connor succeeded the late Marian Finucane as presenter of Radio 1’s mid-morning shows on Saturday and Sunday. Before her death, Finucane was the highest-paid woman at RTÉ, receiving €358,013 in 2019.

About time we paid much less for that crap

Cut little Ray salary / fees by 100% 👍

My heart bleeds for him. Let's have a whip around for him. This is what the TV licence fee is going towards. He is a waste of money.

I wouldn’t so much call it a cut - more a small sliver off the top …

If the world abolished the system where you have to pay, and everything would be free for everyone, only one condition, you have to work. wouldn't that solve the world's problems? There would be no thieves and drug dealers. unless they give away drugs for free 🤣🤣🤣

What's his value for that figure? It certainly isn't value for us, maybe it's for those that control what comes out of his mouth... Waste of tv license money tbh

Tubridy takes a salary from a company on which he pays regular taxes , the rest goes to company which pays corporation tax. Isn't this correct.

Don't imagine any of them will be going to a food bank any time soon.
