As the Bank of Canada monitors the economy\u0027s response to higher interest rates, governor Tiff Macklem says it is still overheated.

That’s despite the Bank of Canada aiming to slow the economy and cool inflation by hiking its key interest rate to 4.5 per cent, the highest its been since 2007.

“If inflation gets stuck and doesn’t come all the way back to the two per cent target, we are fully prepared to increase interest rates further,” Macklem said.

Funny that he NEVER mentions government over-spending as a cause of inflation.

The fuse was lite on the “inflation bomb” long before COVID when we had successive years of increases to minimum wage. Throwing more money into the economy in that manner causes inflation as more people have money to spend and supply can’t keep pace with disposable income.

Not a bit surprised if another hike comes.

Why not raise it some more so no one can afford a house?

WTF world does he live in?

We're doing so great they have to do something about it. They won't stop until you own nothing.

More interest rate hikes coming………

so what are we talking about here the Economy is growing to much ? to many people are working ? i just don't get this logic

Doesn’t look like that pause is going to last for too long…

Overheated? 🤣 yeah, it's called 'seasonal employment'. Check back in October November

Maybe because stay-at-home parents had to get a job to make ends meet. Others are picking up 2nd or 3rd jobs to keep up with inflation.

Is this statement trying to justify immigration explosion.

A very rich man, whose daddy made him so, is very upset that there are too many low paying jobs. He wants more people unemployed. And we act like this man isn't evil?
