With this agreement, Charkin will pivot from using real lifeboats and fast-rescue boats in its maritime training services to simulations Virtual Marine supplies. The purchase of Virtual Marine's equipment is part of a larger project by Charkin to build a new facility. Virtual Marine is also offering advice on floor planning for this site. Burry expects to see Virtual Marine's equipment delivered and on-site for installation by August or September of this year.
In addition to its lifeboat and fast-rescue boat simulations, Virtual Marine produces ice-management simulators. The company employs 35 staff and grew by 30 per cent between 2021 and 2022.
