A bogus village chief in the Eastern Cape has been arrested for allegedly tricking the Department of Minerals and Energy into granting a mining rights licence to a mining company.

It is alleged that the Ngxaza Administration Area headman, Phumelele Ntaba, 54, pretended to be a chief and supported an application by the company to carry out mining activities in a village in Tsolo.
