The Chinese government could use TikTok to control data on millions of people and harness the app to shape public opinion, should China invade Taiwan, FBI Director Christopher Wray said.

Wray responded affirmatively to questions from Republican Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida, the panel’s ranking member, on whether TikTok would allow Beijing widespread control over data and a valuable influence tool in the event of war in the Taiwan Strait.

It’s the latest in a full-court press from US officials to sound the alarm about TikTok’s alleged security risks as Congress weighs giving the Biden administration more authority to address the alleged threat posed by the platform, up to and including banning the app in the United States TikTok CEO Shou Chew said this week that the Chinese government has “never asked us for US user data” and the company would not provide it if the government did ask.

The USA government could use GOGGLE, FACEBOOK, INSTAGRAM, TWITTER to control data on millions of people and harness the app to shape public opinion, should USA invade SIRIA, LIBIA, AFGANISTAN, IRAK, ETC, ETC. the free world knows it and says it

You mean it could do what America and it's allies have been doing when it invaded Vietnam, Iraq, Libya and Afghanistan? America need to understand that it does not hold a monopoly on propaganda.

You mean, the Chinese could do the same thing Twitter is doing now?
