About 23 vendors operate in the building selling everything from produce and prepared foods to butchered meats and coffee. Vendors include longtime names such as Smucker’s Chicken, Fisher’s Deli & Bakery and R.G. Hummer Meat & Cheese.
“The Broad Street Market faced an extremely difficult day, to say the least,” read the market’s Facebook post. “This is not only a tragic day for our staff, and our fantastic vendors, but for our community as well. We know how much the market means to all of you and we can’t thank you enough for the countless support we’ve already received. We are working closely with our city, state, and local officials to bring back the market stronger than ever. To that end, the market is far from gone.
The market noted that its stone building remains open for business as normal and operates Thursday through Saturdays. “All small businesses at the market were affected by the devastating fire, most notably the vendors in the historic brick building. They all could use community support through kind words and financial donations. Please see the vendor’s personal websites and social media pages to donate and support directly. Thank you!” reads the post.
