This is not the first time UPS has faced these types of allegations, as similar complaints have been made by employees working in facilities nationwide.

United Parcel Service trucks are parked at the UPS sorting facility near Toronto in Vaughan, Ontario, Canada, in December 2009. By Allyson Chiu Allyson Chiu Reporter Email Bio Follow March 14 at 6:04 AM Nearly 20 current and former UPS workers sued the package delivery company on Wednesday, alleging it “enabled, tolerated, and purposefully promoted and encouraged a culture of racism and racially discriminatory conduct to take root” at a distribution center in Maumee, Ohio.

“African-American employees come to work each day not knowing whether a racist comment or conduct will confront them, being concerned that smirking or laughing white employees are ridiculing them because of their race, and walking on eggshells to avoid triggering a problem,” the lawsuit said. Dean Foust, a UPS spokesman, told The Washington Post in a statement late Wednesday that the company “has strict policies against harassment and discrimination.”

The 46-page lawsuit filed this week painted a similarly troubling picture of life for black employees at the Maumee UPS facility. The suit also detailed the contents of a group text message conversation from July 2016, in which white employees made comments such as, “If you feel down and out, the noose is loose” and “Like Clint Eastwood said, ‘Hang ‘em High.’” The messages were reported to management, but no disciplinary action was taken, the suit alleges.

Given the number of reports of these types of incidents and the alleged responses by management, the lawsuit accused UPS of taking actions that “promoted and tolerated an atmosphere of racism in which individual employees feel free to display overt racial biases through conduct.”

sounds like BS to me

This is terrible. But not shocking. It's 2019 it's ok to be a horrible racist and leave terroristic threats. Remember trump incited violence and encourages attacks against his opponents. This is how facism starts... Oh wait it's America it's been here all along.

My, my, how WaPo loves to race-bait !

suekhi WOW...that's horrific...

Its why diversity training, sexual harassment training and similar training don't necessarily work. Its about changing attitudes. The best way to do that? Real disciplinary action up to and including management and executive level. Policy statements and apology mean little.

When I was a manager at now closed retail chain Gander Mountain on the conference call one day a couple of other managers were laughing and saying they were glad the last black manager just left. It’s America. Of course there was racism. White people “get over it racism is dead”

Not saying I dont believe but after smollett my initial reaction to these allegations is 'show me the evidence'.

One more reason I call the company 'Oops'.

No they didn't. This is a lie.

America is sick still, Smdh

If only every kind of racist hatred sparked as much outrage. Yet it’s perfectly acceptable for certain political “heroes” to sit amongst the violently outspoken anti-Semitic, anti-white hate mongerers like Farrakhan.

Please stand if ever a slave Owned slaves, stand the same How can everyone be seated? When race holds so much blame Race baiters dig up the past Stirring problems, creating a need Your 'need' a pretty good living They're famous without succeed … … … …

Yeah..shocking. 😐

Here we go again...the media diving head first into unsubstantiated allegations

BULLSHIT!

They just want to 'sue' for money.

The only positive thing re Trump. The ugly underbelly of the US is exposed to light; and irradiated.

This is new normal for the uneducated Trump culture. Hate crimes and racism has surged...

No more UPS. As a ppl we mustn’t put our money in those that would harm ppl who only want to work.

...I guess short pants is no measure of morality and integrity...

Bullshit. Those places are so micromanaged it is suicidal. This is like most poc accusations- false & money driven.

Why are we encouraging this culture of hate and racism in America. We need to stop this behavior before it is even conceived

“Hey Tyrone!? What’cha doin’!?”

Didn't they just have to pay millions of dollars for a religious discrimination lawsuit? This is obviously trend at UPS.

That's a whole lot of Jussie Smolletts!

Thanks, enabler in chief..🙄😡

If they said there was bleach and MAGA hats...

Dopes, so proud of their ignorance.

Deliver those amazon packages ontime slaves!!!
