JMPD spokesperson, Xolani Fihla says the M1 South is currently closed off.

The Johannesburg Metro Police Department has urged motorists to avoid the M1 South near Corlett Drive in both directions after a police van collided with a bakkie.It is alleged that the vehicle transporting prisoners from court collided head-on with the bakkie after the driver of the bakkie lost control. Multiple fatalities and injuries have been reported and the cause of the accident is still unknown.“Medical teams and police are on scene.
