A group of business owners and traders affected by recent floods are seeking assistance in clearing up the mess. The flood water has subsided, but the waste has accumulated along the road, posing a health hazard. The local authority has failed to fulfill promises of waste removal, leaving the businesses unable to resume operations. Insurance does not cover the damages, but other forms of support, such as a flooding hardship fund, are available.

"We're not asking for the earth", he adds, "We're just asking for the waste to be gone so we can resume business." "If there is no insurance in place there is a different legislation in place for Councils when it comes to collecting commercial waste, which is different to household waste. The Council are looking in to options to collect this waste and contracts need to be put in to place in line with the legislation and the health and safety of the teams collecting commercial waste."
