The National Disability Insurance Scheme risks collapse and more providers will be forced to stop offering services as the sector faces market failure.

The National Disability Insurance Scheme risks collapse and more providers will be forced to stop offering services as the sector faces market failure, Australia’s peak disability services body has warned.

NDS President Joan McKenna Kerr said many not-for-profit service providers had been forced to cut their services, including one-on-one care to help people with disability navigate their communities as a direct result of the scheme's systemic flaws and poor pricing model.More than half of Australian disability providers said they would have to reduce the quality of services under the current pricing model, an independent survey commissioned by NDS showed.

“If we don’t have urgent attention on this we are going to find more and more providers are not going to be able to provide support." Chief executive of Greenacres Chris Christodoulou said the organisation was running one-on-one support at a loss of 5 to 18 per cent under the NDIS.Ms McKenna Kerr said the rigidity of the NDIS meant regional and rural providers were forced to pull out because they could not get funding for transportation to get the people who needed their services.

The NDIS is being overburdened by the autism epidemic. You know - that epidemic that now affects 1 in 36 kids that no one wants to talk about? Why is it that a couple of kids get measles and it's headlines, but CDC says 1 in 36 kids now have autism and it doesn't rate a mention?

Was never properly funded just like all the Gonski crap.

Given that the LNP sabotaged Labor's NBN initiative and have for decades have worked steadfastly in undermining Medicare, another Labor intiative, can we assume NDIS is similarly being corrupted by the LNP? LNPfail AusVotes2019
