Rushcliffe Borough Council,Nottinghamshire

The plans were submitted last month

A new business could soon be opening its doors in East Leake as planning permission is requested to change the ground floor of an apartment building into a commercial unit.

An application was submitted to Rushcliffe Borough Council in April requesting permission to build an extension to the rear and second floor of the building, including a roof reconfiguration. The building on Costock Road is currently used as a home for multiple occupants. Across three floors it contains eight bedrooms, a sitting room, a utility room, a reception room, a living room, a dining room, two kitchens, a bathroom and a WC.

However, if planning permission is granted, the ground floor will be become either a shop, cafe or restaurant or a professional service. It is not clear at this stage which type of business will be moving into the building. Four new two-bedroom apartments would also be created, one on the ground and second floor, and two on the first floor. From the plans submitted, it is clear that the proposed layout and appearance for the building would be similar to other properties in the area, and would enhance the empty property whilst also providing a new amenity for the local area.
