Plans for a new Wirral school are expected to be delivered by 2027 as part of a “major investment.” Mosslands High School, a secondary community school, was awarded funding for a rebuild in 2022. Wirral Council successfully applied to the Department for Education for funding to rebuild Mosslands High School due to its “very poor condition.” This was alongside three other schools which were Pensby High School, Riverside Primary School, and the Observatory School.
Two sites at Cross Lane and Wallacre currently have ongoing issues with flooding in the area with work needing to be taken to tackle this. Wallacre is currently used by the school but is sometimes unusable due to flooding while Cross Lane faces “severe flooding” and has been left to become overgrown. Councillors are being asked to approve putting £3.09m towards tackling the issues on December 11 at a Policy and Resources committee meeting.
