Austin Potocki is accused of killing Benjamin Billings and injuring David Anderson after a potential lawsuit was filed against his company.

A Hanover business owner has been arrested after authorities believe he killed one person and tried to injure another after one of the men filed a lawsuit against his business. In a press release from the Carroll County Sheriff's Office in Maryland, Austin Potocki was arrested on Monday evening following a shooting that broke out on Dec. 13. Officials stated that Potocki shot at a pickup truck in Finksburg, MD at around 7:44 a.m. at the intersection of Wesley Road and Patapsco Road.

The driver of the pickup, Benjamin Billings, was pronounced dead at the scene while the passenger, David Anderson was rushed to Sinai Hospital after being shot in the arm. A search warrant was then executed at Potocki's Hanover home where officers used his cell phones and computers to place him at the scene of the shooting when it happened. Further investigation found that Potocki had used a device to fire and catch multiple rounds from an AR .223 that he is accused of using to shoot Billings and Anderson. That same type of gun, authorities reported, was found at a storage facility Potocki rented and shell casings from it were found after Potocki tried destroying them at his home. Carroll County officials confirmed that Potocki had a business relationship with Billings and Anderson trough his company, Austin's Pool Services, and that a text message between Anderson and Potocki indicated a potential civil lawsuit filed by Anderson. Potocki was arrested in Hanover and is awaiting extradition back to Maryland to face related charges for the shooting
