Over 100 shops in Makurdi Modern Market, Benue State, were reportedly engulfed in fire on Tuesday evening, destroying goods worth millions of naira.
Thomas Ugwu, a resident of the area, who confirmed the incident to DAILY POST, said the fire started at about 6:30 pm when the market was closed after the day’s business. He said nobody could presently tell what caused the fire as the market had closed for the day with nobody left behind in the premises.
