A public servant improperly awarded, or attempted to influence, millions of dollars' worth of government contracts for the benefit of a close friend, an inquiry finds.

An Integrity Commission investigation has uncovered a nepotism scandal inside a Tasmanian Government department, revealing a public servant improperly awarded or attempted to influence millions of dollars' worth of government contracts for the benefit of a close friend.

That led to a series of contract briefs capped at $50,000 for work likely to total around $1 million over three years. "In doing so the manager created a significant conflict in terms of open and fair competition once the tender was advertised, given that Company 1 could potentially have an advantage over its competitors," the report said.

DanTehanWannon WillHodgman bec_white JoshWillie1 jeremyrockliff This level of corruption is disturbing. Surely you have checks in place to ensure compliance as this is not the first time. Good that someone was willing to be a ‘whistleblower’

Is failing to disclose a conflict of interest a thing? What about if it's a contractor/charity/service provider under NSW State body to a Uk contractor ?

Wonder how many ‘brown bags’ the friend paid out?
